Trump Gives Major Endorsement

In 2016, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney issued a scathing critique of then-candidate Donald Trump, assailing the real estate mogul for everything from his business failures to his inexperience to his character, calling him a “phony and a fraud” who is “playing the members of the American public for suckers.”

Romney even questioned his “temperament and suitability to be president,” in his March 2016 speech.

Trump, in turn, told Americans the former governor sought his endorsement four years prior during his failed run for president and later “choked like a dog” in 2012 against former President Barack Obama.

But since winning the election, Trump seems to have buried the hatchet, considering Romney for the position of secretary of state to the chagrin of some of his closest advisors, and now throwing his full backing behind Romney in his bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Utah.
