Did The New Mueller Indictment Clear Trump?

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has handed down an indictment against 13 Russians and three Russian entities accused of “violating U.S. criminal laws in order to interfere with U.S. elections and political processes. The indictment charges all of the defendants with conspiracy to defraud the United States, three defendants with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, and five defendants with aggravated identity theft.

An interesting development is that the accused individuals allegedly initiated their criminal activities long before Donald Trump announced his intent to run for the presidency. The indictment reads: “from in or around 2014 to the present, defendant knowingly and intentionally conspired with each other (and with persons known and unknown to the Grand Jury) to defraud the United States by impairing, obstructing, and defeating the lawful functions of the government through fraud and deceit for the purpose of interfering with the U.S. political and electoral processes, including the presidential election of 2016.”

The indictment also says that the Russians worked with ‘unwitting’ participants. If the participants were unwitting, it destroys the narrative that Donald Trump wittingly worked with the Russians. This looks to clear him of that. And lead to the conclusion that this ‘witch hunt’ by Mueller needs to end!

These individuals were acting to sow distrust and discord in the American electoral system; if the indictment is to be believed, they did so before Donald Trump announced his candidacy in June of 2015. At the time, the assumed frontrunners of the two parties were Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton, meaning these individuals acted independently of the outsider candidate Trump, not in concert with his campaign. The media will spin this several different ways, but they can’t spin the timeline, which is inconsistent with their narrative.
